I'm a Certified Anusara Yoga teacher who began practicing yoga in 2002, at the age of 50, after a mostly slothful adult life and two experiences with herniated disks — first when I was 30 and again 10 years later. (I'm also a photographer and writer. More on those efforts below.)
Since 2004, I've completed more than 500 hours of training in asana, philosophy, teaching methodology and yoga therapeutics with John Friend, who became among the most highly respected and sought-after
hatha yoga teachers in the world. In addition, I've completed the in-depth 300-hour Anusara Teacher Training program with the wo
nderful Todd Norian, and hundreds of hours of training with other senior teachers, including internationally recognized Desiree Rumbuagh, and Austin’s Charly Pivert.
Starting in 2005, I taught for more than three years
at a local YMCA, helping students across the spectrum of abilities and challenges open to something greater inside of themselves.
Since mid-2008 , I have been a regular teacher at:
Soul Fitness Yoga, Fort Worth
Aledo Yoga & NIA, Aledo
Veria Wellness Center, in Arlington
Energy Fitness, Fort Worth
Indigo Yoga, Fort Worth
Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth
Urban Yoga, Fort Worth
I currently teach group classes from my home studio space in Fort Worth's Museum District, Urban Yoga, and Colonial Country Club and offer
private practices for all levels, workshops and therapeutic yoga.
I combine my rich knowledge of yoga, my dedication to my work, my sense of humor and
a powerful teaching style to open students to offering each pose with an
intention to connect to yoga’s larger purpose, while always staying aware of their
body alignment and finding the balance between steadfastness and freedom.
It is a joyful teaching style that is uplifting and inspires students of any level to live fully from their hearts and celebrate life.
In another part of my life, I'm a respected artistic photographer.

After a lifetime as a serious amateur and sometimes commercial photographer, in 2006 I began submitting my artistic work for gallery and exhibit consideration.
Within 18 months, I had been juried into a dozen national and international exhibits, and was in several permanent collections. I've enjoyed individual and group exhibits, most recently a solo exhibit at the International Photography Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, and I have photographs in the permanent displays at the Buddy Holly Gallery in Lubbock, and several private collections.
For nearly 19 years, I was a newspaper reporter, working for major papers in New Orleans, Denver, New York, Fort Worth and Boulder, Colo. Today, I'm an editor and content strategist for The Starr Conspiracy, an inconoclastic and international strategic branding and advertising agency with headquarters on Fort Worth's dynamic near South Side.
I earned my Master’s Degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and later
won a Pulitzer Prize nomination and other national awards.
