July Schedule Update

Two quick notes:

I won't teaching July 3-8 (Sat.-Thu.). Classes in my home space on July 5 and 7 are canceled. I'll be back in the saddle on Friday, July 9.

I'm setting aside the Sunday afternoon classes at Body Mind Spirit Center. I'm grateful to those of you have participated at BMSC on Sundays over the past year and hope you'll find other opportunities to join me.

Energy Fitness Members: A Place to Practice

If you are an Energy Fitness member, Brooke Hinkle at Indigo Yoga would like to offer you a two-class gift pass. Please be her guest in any classes at Indigo . You can find Indigo's schedule at the "Sign up for Classes" page of its website (www.indigoyogafortworth.com). This pass:
  • Can be used anytime you like (assuming the class you want has space).
  • Has no expiration date.
  • Can be used even if you have already attended complimentary classes at Indigo as a former Energy member.
To receive your pass or take a class at Indigo, simply bring your Energy membership card or tag, so the desk person can get you into their system. (You should also bring your own mat, although Indigo has them for your use if necessary.)

This is not meant to replace or honor your Energy membership. It's simply an offer of a place to enjoy your yoga and maybe try something new.

Biography

I began practicing yoga in 2002, when I was 50, and began my  Anusara Yoga® studies less than a year later. I am a licensed Anusara-inspired Yoga Teacher and registered by the Yoga Alliance at its 500-hour teacher level (RYT-500).

I have completed more than 400 hours of training in asana, philosophy, teaching methodology and yoga therapeutics with Anusara Yoga® founder John Friend, who today is among the most highly respected and sought-after hatha yoga teachers in the world.

In addition, I have completed the in-depth 300-hour Anusara Teacher Training program with Senior Certified Anusara® Teacher Todd Norian and hundreds of hours of training with other senior Anusara teachers, including internationally recognized Desirée Rumbaugh and Austin’s Charly Pivert.

Beginning in 2005, I taught for more than three years at a local YMCA, helping students across the
spectrum of abilities and challenges open to something greater inside of themselves.

In mid-2008 , I began teaching at:

  • Soul Fitness Yoga in Fort Worth
  • Aledo Yoga & NIA in Aledo
  • Veria Wellness Center in Arlington and
  • Energy Fitness in Fort Worth.

I also offer private practices for all levels, workshops and therapeutic yoga.

As an Anusara-inspired Yoga Teacher™, I combine my rich knowledge of yoga, my dedication to my work, my sense of humor and a powerful teaching style to open students to offering each pose with an intention to connect to yoga’s larger purpose, while always staying aware of their body alignment and finding the balance between steadfastness and freedom.

It is a joyful teaching style that is uplifting and inspires students of any level to live fully from their hearts and celebrate life.

My Photography

In another part of my life, I'm a respected artistic photographer. That's the link to my web site.

My photo newly minted blog is here.

After a lifetime as a serious amateur and sometimes commercial photographer, in 2006 I began submitting my artistic work for gallery and exhibit consideration.

Within 18 months, I had been juried into a dozen national and international exhibits, and was in several permanent collections. I've enjoyed individual and group exhibits, most recently a solo exhibit at the International Photography Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.

My Writing

For nearly 19 years, I was a newspaper reporter, working for major papers in New Orleans, Denver, New York, Fort Worth and Boulder, Colo. Visit my personal web site.

I earned my Master’s Degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and later won a Pulitzer Prize nomination and other national awards.
